A United Methodist Community

Community Outreach

Food Shelves:
Freshwaters supports local food shelves in Princeton - The Princeton Pantry; in Cambridge - Family Pathways; and in Elk River - called Community Aid Elk River or CAER.

Great River Family Promise:
Our new adventure will soon be here. Our congregation wilil be hosting homeless families from Sherburne County at our Lake Campus, four times this year. The GRFP program will provide the beds, but we will need donations of new or gently used single sheets, pillow cases, blankets, towels and washcloths. These families are actively looking for work, have children going to school, and need a place to stay while they get back on their feet. If you have questions, donations, or would like to vounteer for this wonderful program, contact Darla Scouten at 763-856-0009.

Joseph's Closet:
Joseph's Closet is a clothing ministry of Freshwaters United Methodist Church, specifically winter clothing. We have some new and gently used winter wear (jackets, boots, hats, scarves, mittens) that we give away to families that need them. If you would like to set up an appointment to see what we have, stop by Lake Campus (12475 273rd Ave. NW, Zimmerman, MN) from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday evenings. Or, you can call the church office at 763-631-1185 to make an appointment. Donations are also accepted, and we can pick up your items if you are unable to drop them off. Call the church office for details.

Meals on Wheels:
Freshwaters is responsible for the March deliveries of Meals-ala-Car. We ask our volunteers to cover a week of deliveries if possible. Please contact Dick Gist personally, or by phone at 763-389-2320, to volunteer.

Feed My Starving Children:
Freshwaters occasionally takes groups to FMSC in Coon Rapids to pack meals. Check this site regularly to see when the next outing will be (probably in late winter/early spring 2012). If you would like to volunteer on your own, please go to the Feed My Starving Children website. fmsc.org
