Youth Ministry

NEWS FLASH:  Youth Bowling and Pizza Night this Sunday night the 19th (instead of regular YG). Meet at Zimmerman Bowl (25920 Gateway Drive, Zimmerman, MN) at 6:30 PM. Parents can pick students up at the bowling alley at the usual 8 PM time. Cost is $10...please pay if at all possible, but if you don't have the money, come anyway and pay what you can. One hour of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, drinks and prizes (not for everyone, but for a select few winners) are included. See you at the lanes!

YOUTH GROUP:

*Sunday evenings during the school year, 6:30-8:00 PM.  YOUTH GROUP is an awesome time where 6th-12th grade students can come, hang out, play basketball or pool, eat some food, and just sit and talk. We often play some fun/ridiculous games, give away some prizes, and spend time talking about God and growing closer to Him through a variety of learning methods.  At Freshwaters, we value our young people and consider effective yoiuth ministry a cornerstone of a thriving, dynamic worship community. Youth Group is the time set aside specifically for students and is geared toward them. We would love to see you there!

 YOUTH DIRECTOR

CT Harris, Youth Director

Family: Two kids, Charlie (11) and Jane (7).

Pets: Donut the Dog (Bagle Hound), Hollywood the Cat (Manx), Ava the Bunny (Holland Dwarf Lop) and Mario and Luigi (Guinea Pigs). Yes, it's kind of a menagerie at CT's house.

Hobbies: Sports of all kinds...especially baseball and the Minnesota Twins, listening to music, reading, attempting to break 85 in golf, playing with pets and kids, cooking, needlepoint.

Mildly Interesting Fact: CT still plays baseball at age 40 (yes, he admits his age now). He plays outfield and sometimes 2B for the Coon Rapids Diamonds in the Federal League...who just won the Class A Federal League Championship. More significantly, CT was able to still walk after most of the games.

Education: He has one, we think. Rumor has it that he graduated from Bethel in the mid 90s with a Communications degree. And he received an ordination certificate from a Cracker Jack box (not really, his ordination is legit).

Phobias: Snakes, Needles, Clowns .

Resides In: A van down by the river (correction: he lives in a townhouse in Elk River...we heard that wrong before).

Born In: Edina, MN (a fact he usually hides).

Favorite TV Shows: Minnesota Twins baseball, Top Chef, Burn Notice, Hawaii 5-0 (the new one), CSI Miami.

Favorite Bands: The Killers, Skillet and David Crowder Band.

Favorite Bible Verse: Daniel 12:3: "Those who are wise will shine like the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever."

CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is for students in grades 7, 8 or 9, and will typically be offered every other year, depending on the number of students who express interest. It is a one year program that meets every Wednesday night from mid September to early May at River Campus (6:30-7:30 PM). The class covers a variety of topics and themes relating to church history, our place in the world, developing a Christ-like world view, service, evangelism, the Bible, and much more. Freshwaters allows students in grades 7-9 to choose when they are ready to take Confirmation during those three grade levels. Because we had a large Confirmation class in 2011, we will NOT be offering Confirmation for the 2011-2012 school year. For more questions, contact CT via email or call the church office.

SUMMER SERVICE TRIP

We are tentatively planning to continue our relationships with CHUMP (Chicago Urban Missions Project) in the summer of 2012. We had a wonderful experience with them last year, and would like to build on that dynamic working relationship. It looks as if we will be heading to Chicago on July 15 and returning on July 22. Mark your calendars now and don't miss this life-changing trip. Information (schedule, fundraising, registration and deposit, etc.) will be out around February 1, 2012. Stay tuned!

SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITIES:
Register now for Camp Minnesota summer camps (run by the Minnesota UMC). Camps are available for all ages, and a variety of options exist including day camps, shorter overnight camps and weeklong camps for youth and adults. There are even family camps, grandparent/grandchild camps and much more. You can stay in tents or in hotel-style lodging! Camperships are available for all Camp Minnesota camps. Call 612-230-CAMP for more information, or visit the website at www.campminnesota.org.
